5 smart garage organization ideas

Between tools, bikes, golf clubs, kids toys garages can get cluttered. Not to mention leaving enough room for your vehicles! Here’s some tips for maximizing the space you have and regaining your parking spot.

Storage modules under a table

Workbenches are great to have whether you use it for building, crafting or gardening but don’t let the space underneath go to waste! Creating modular storage underneath can create more storage and organization. See how I built my modular work bench with mobile tables and storage here.

Create a cleat wall to hang items

French cleats are an easy and cheap way to organize all kinds of items. Think peg wall but much better and more customizable. You can use a cleat to hang lightweight tools to heavier items like a cabinet. For inspiration on what to make see my post on tool storage ideas here.

Use cabinets

Wall cabinets and tall cabinets can store so much, and if you don’t have a ton of room along your wall then try optimizing between the studs. If the studs are exposed you can create custom cabinets or shelving to fit in between! See my post here for a tutorial on how to build your own custom locker cabinets

Create a ball cage for sports equipment storage

Lockers are great but if you have soccerballs constantly falling out everytime you open the door thats not ideal. Try this ball cage with bungee cords to corral everything. See how to make ball cage here.

Go vertical

Using your wall space to hang as much as you can means more room to fit your vehicles. Hang bikes, scooters, ladders and even leaf blowers. So don’t be afraid to use all that wall space.
